“My mother is a special needs teacher assistant, and my father is a custodian at a local high school during the week and works at Lowe’s on the weekend. My parents… have spent their entire lives believing in me and my dreams, even when I could not. Cabarrus College of Health Sciences has been the only school I ever wanted to go to since I was 15, and to be honest, my parents could not have afforded this school on their own without going into debt. Scholarships and financial aid provided me the opportunity to live out my dreams of going to Cabarrus College and becoming a nurse.”

Madelyn Brown, RN, '21
Associate of Science in Nursing

“I was inspired from a young age to pursue a health sciences career. As a first-generation college student, scholarship support is helping me accomplish my professional goals. It is an incredible relief to be able to focus on my studies and not have to pick up more hours at work to scramble to afford this incredible education. I am now able to focus solely on my classes and clinical time.”
